Essentials LAB Buffer 4 and 7 is the ideal solution for 2-point calibration of pH meters at pH4 and pH7. Regular calibration will keep your pH meter reading accurately.
The performance of a pH electrode or pH meter will change with time due to aging because as the electrode is used its coating degrades, to ensure it is working correctly, regular calibration is a must. If you are using your pH meter daily, you should calibrate it at least once a week.
Ensure that your pH meter and Buffer solutions are at similar temperatures, by keeping them in the same place for a while. Shake the bottle before use. Always pour a small amount into another container to test pH, and do not place your pH probe directly into the bottle. This will avoid contamination of the Buffer solution in the bottle and will maintain its accuracy. After use, discard the solution used for calibration, and never put it back into the bottle. Follow the calibration instructions provided with your pH Meter. Do once for pH4 and once for pH7 for accurate, 2-point calibration, never mix.
Always keep the bottle upright with the cap screwed tight to avoid evaporation or spillage. Store your Buffer 4 at temperatures between 5°C and 25°C, and out of direct sunlight.
Features:
- Highly accurate pH4 and pH7 solution
- Ensures that your pH meter is reading correctly
Technical Specifications:
- Acidity level: pH4 and pH7
- Volume: 250ml or 1L
Essentials LAB pH+ and pH- are concentrated alkaline solutions (50% potassium hydroxide) and acidic solutions (81% phosphoric acid) respectively which can be used in small, controlled doses to raise the pH (decrease acidity) or lower the pH (increase acidity) of nutrient solutions.
Features:
- Highly concentrated
- Can adjust the pH of large volumes of nutrient solution
Specifications:
pH+: 50% potassium hydroxide
pH+ PH: >11.5
pH- 81% phosphoric acid
pH- pH: <1.0
How to use?
Check the pH of your nutrient solution. If the pH reading is too low, then the solution is too acidic. Add a small, measured amount of Essentials LAB pH+ to your nutrient reservoir and mix thoroughly. Check the pH level again and note how much it has changed. You now know how much a certain dosage of Essentials LAB pH+ has raised the pH in your reservoir, and from this you can judge how much more, if any, you need to add to achieve the desired pH level.
If the pH is too high, then you should use Essentials LAB pH- in the same way to adjust it to a lower level, within the recommended range.
